Options Open For Alibi

Plans for Best Alibi are undecided after the Irish Derby third suffered a slight setback.

Sir Michael Stoute's smart performer finished five lengths behind Dylan Thomas at the Curragh and then went on to gain compensation by winning the inaugural running of the Skybet York Stakes on the Knavesmire last month.

A return to York for the Juddmonte International Stakes was being considered for Best Alibi but the Group One feature went by without him.

'Best Alibi is OK,' said Bruce Raymond, racing manager to owners the Gainsborough Stud. 'He bruised a foot otherwise he's all right.

'I've no idea what Sir Michael has in mind for the horse until he starts work again.'

The son of King's Best holds an entry in the Emirates Airline Champion Stakes at Newmarket on October 14.
