Options Open For Diamond Tycoon

Diamond Tycoon, a recent springer in the ante-post market for the Stan James 2,000 Guineas, is not certain to be aimed at the one-mile Classic.

Brian Meehan´s charge jumped to prominence when slamming his rivals by six lengths and more in a maiden event at Newbury last Saturday.

The Johannesburg colt has continued to attract support ever since and has been slashed to a general 8-1 for the upcoming Newmarket showpiece.

However, Meehan has warned that the May 5 race is not the only option open to Diamond Tycoon.

'We gave Diamond Tycoon a couple of days off after Newbury, and he will be out at exercise tomorrow (Wednesday),' Meehan told the Racing Post.

'He´ll work at the weekend and we will make a decision after that regarding the 2,000 Guineas.

'We want to do what´s right for the colt. He is also engaged in the French 2,000 Guineas on May 13 and the French Derby.'
