Options for Holding Court

Holding Court may miss Friday`s Sagitta Jockey Club Stakes at Newmarket, it emerged today.

Last year`s French Derby winner could instead return to the continent to contest a big race in Rome.

'He is a probable rather than certain runner at Newmarket,' said trainer Michael Jarvis. 'We will monitor the situation through the week.

'I am not averse to running him but it is quite a tough race - the St Leger winner Millenary is in.

'And he could run instead in the Premio Presidente della Repubblica in Italy two weeks today.

'It is worth about four times as much money and it is a Group One so it is quite tempting.'

Stable-companion Ameerat will definitely be in action at Newmarket, tackling next Sunday`s Sagitta 1000 Guineas.

And Jarvis is expecting big things from the filly, who is from the family of triple crown winner Oh So Sharp and who finished second up to Karasta in the May Hill Stakes at Doncaster last season.

'We are hoping for a dry week for her but she is very well and seems to be working well,' the trainer said.

'If you take it that Karasta is nearly favourite and we were beaten just a length by her at Doncaster without getting the best of runs we can expect a bold show.'
