Options for Winchester Dermot Weld is weighing up the options for Winchester following his hugely impressive victory at Arlington Park on Saturday night. The Theatrical colt, who beat subsequent Irish Oaks heroine Moonstone in a Leopardstown maiden in April, registered a first victory at the highest level when running away with the Secretariat Stakes by seven and a quarter lengths. Weld said: "It was a really good performance by the horse on Saturday and we were delighted. I having nothing concrete in mind for him at the moment and I will have to talk to the owners, Mr and Mrs Firestone, before making any firm plans." He added: "He will certainly stick to 10 furlongs if we stay in Europe, but if I decide to take him to one of the tight tracks in America, he may get a bit further. "Ten furlongs certainly seems to be his optimum trip and all Group One races are open to him. We will see how he is when he gets back and take things from there."
