Osborne Not Drawn Towards Newbury

Royal Ascot winner Drawnfromthepast is a doubtful starter in the richly-endowed Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury on Saturday.

The Tagula colt ran a cracking race to finish a head in front of Kingsgate Native in the Windsor Castle Stakes last month.

But trainer Jamie Osborne said: 'At the moment he would be 50-50. We will make a decision later in the week.

'On balance it is probably more likely that we will wait and go to the Richmond Stakes at Goodwood (on August 3) followed by Doncaster.

'It is less likely that he will run in Newbury. We just wanted to leave ourselves the option but he is almost certainly on course for the Doncaster #300,000 St Leger 2-Y-O Stakes on September 12.'

Richard Hannon will launch his usual strong assault on the race, for which 31 possibles remained at the five-day stage.

The master of East Everleigh has six entries ? Cracking, Reel Gift, Don't Tell Anna, Cake, Ronsai and Penrice Castle ? as he chases a seventh winner in the five-furlong contest.
