Outsider Wins Big Race In France

Freddie Head put his British counterparts to the sword for the second time in three days as Tamayuz saw off a host of foreign raiders to claim the Abu Dhabi Sorouh Prix Jean Prat at Chantilly.

The Frenchman stole the July Cup from the visitors´ backyard in Newmarket on Friday afternoon, and again asserted himself as Davy Bonilla rode a superb race to hold off the late challenges of Raven´s Pass and Rio De La Plata.

The 14-1 winner was kicked into the lead soon after rounding the home bend and opened up a healthy advantage before having a length and a half to spare over Raven´s Pass at the line.

Rio De La Plata and Frankie Dettori were a half-length back in third, with Brian Meehan´s Cat Junior fourth, Henry Cecil´s Kandahar Run fifth and Winker Watson representing Peter Chapple-Hyam not beaten far in seventh.

Head said: "This is unbelievable, it has been a great few days. These are the sort of things you dream of but say will never happen."
