Oxx Waiting For King To Be Crowned

>> Hoping To Be Back In The Swing At Ascot

John Oxx is expecting an improved performance from King In Waiting when the lightly-raced colt steps up in trip at Leopardstown tomorrow evening.

The four-year-old, related to 2000 St Leger hero Millenary and 2004 Derby third Let The Lion Roar, tackles a mile and three-quarters for the first time in the Seamus & Rosemary McGrath Savel Beg Stakes.

After two runs last term, he began this campaign finishing last of seven to Septimus over a mile and a quarter at the Curragh three weeks ago when beaten seven and a half lengths.

'He´s in good form. It was a good run last time even though he was last of seven,' said Oxx.

'He ran quite well so we hope that will have put him on a bit. We will see how good he is on Wednesday.

'This is his trip and with the run under his belt he should run better.'

Oxx Hoping To Be Back In The Swing At Ascot

John Oxx is hoping to get Arch Swing fit for the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot after the filly returned stiff and sore from the Boylesports Irish 1000 Guineas.

She was last of 11 behind Finsceal Beo at the Curragh on Sunday having finished runner-up to Jim Bolger´s ace in the Newmarket equivalent.

'She´s a bit stiff and sore behind. She seemed to hurt herself, probably jumping out of the stalls. She jumped out very awkwardly and twisted herself,' said the Currabeg trainer.

'She wasn´t moving well at any stage. It wasn´t like her at all.

'She´s not lame or anything like that so hopefully it´s something that can be put right.

'We are leaving her in the Coronation Stakes and we will see if we can get her ready for that.

'We´ll see how she responds to treatment and see how we get on over the next two weeks.'
