PADDY'S FOURTH IN FRANCE

Paddy's Return was far from disgraced when finished fourth in the Prix de Londres over hurdles at Cagnes-sur-Mer today.

The 1996 Triumph Hurdle winner was always to the fore under Pascal Marion and kept on well once headed in the 19-furlong contest.

The much-fancied Royal Destin stamped his seal on the race by quickening up well at the beginning of the straight and powering three lengths clear.

It proved a much tighter battle for the placings, with Paddy's Return getting pipped for second and third by a head and the same by Fly Fishing and Art Echo.

Ferdy Murphy's charge was using this race as preparation for the local "Champion Hurdle", the Grande Course de Haies de Cagnes, next Wednesday.
