Paddy Brennan breaks leg

Conditional jockey Paddy Brennan faces a lengthy spell out of the saddle after breaking his left leg while riding out for his boss Paul Nicholls this morning.

Brennan was taken to Yeovil General Hospital by air ambulance and Nicholls fears the jockey will be out of action for the rest of the season.

Nicholls said: 'Paddy was schooling first lot when the horse he was riding crashed through the wing of a fence. It didn`t look a particularly nasty fall but he was in agony afterwards.

'It seems as if it`s quite a bad break which is a real setback for Paddy as he was just establishing himself and there`s every likelihood he`ll be out for the remainder of the season.'

Brennan`s injury is not good news for Nicholls as his other conditional jockey Anthony Honeyball is also sidelined with a broken leg sustained in a fall at Taunton.

And stable-jockey Timmy Murphy has taken the week off with pulled muscles in a shoulder which he aggravated at Kempton last Saturday. Murphy hopes to be back in action at Newbury this weekend.
