Jockey Paddy Hanlon is to ride as a conditional jockey for leading National Hunt trainer Nicky Henderson this season.

Son of trainer Shark Hanlon, the teenager made a name for himself on the pony racing scene before graduating to riding under Rules in recent times.

Already the winner of 15 races in Ireland, he has added a further seven successes in Britain. Speaking at Listowel on Wednesday, Hanlon said:

“It’s a great opportunity and I’m very much looking forward to it.

“I was looking to go to the UK during the summer and to get into a yard like his is unbelievable.

“I’m heading over on Sunday or Monday and hopefully it will be a good season ahead.

“I can’t thank dad enough for all the rides he’s given me.”
