Penzance Primed For Trophy

Triumph Hurdle winner Penzance is firmly on course to bid for glory in the totesport Trophy at Newbury on Saturday week.

Alan King gave a bullish assessment of the Elite Racing Club-owned five-year-old, who has been the subject of sustained support for the two-mile contest.

'I don't know where the money has come from, but he is working as well as he always does and fingers crossed if the weather stays this way he will get his ground,' he said.

'He has 10st 9lb and obviously I would like things to stay that way.

'As far as the Champion Hurdle is concerned, I want to take it one race at a time with him.'
