Pipe uveills record buy Magnus Record jumps purchase Magnus makes his eagerly-awaited British debut in the Relkeel Hurdle at Newbury tomorrow.Martin Pipe bought the five-year-old for Stg£340,000 on behalf of owner David Johnson and the gelding has already gone some way to repaying his new connections with victory in a Stg£48,000 race at Auteuil in November.Magnus will face four rivals in tomorrow`s contest, which was salvaged from Cheltenham`s abandoned card, including American hope Tres Touche, trained by Ricky Hendriks and due to be ridden by Englishman David Bentley.The other race at Newbury saved from Saturday`s programme is the Bula Hurdle and this Grade Two contest has attracted four runners.They are Pipe`s Valiramix, 2000 Smurfit Champion Hurdle runner-up Hors La Loi III, Sir Talbot, who will be reappearing after a two-year absence from the track, and `Fighting Fifth` Hurdle second The French Furze.Both Landing Light, who beat The French Furze at Newcastle, and Azertyuiop bypassthe Newbury race to wait instead for the Pertemps Christmas Hurdle at Kempton Park on Boxing Day.
