Post-Race Reaction To Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Vase

Olivier Peslier - Doctor Dino - 'I was fourth early but there was no pace and when the others were coming past me on the outside there was no way out. So I had to be patient and stay on the rail. He showed a great turn of foot and when he got out I knew he´d win. The horse´s win today was down to the trainer who´s done a great job with him. It´s his first time at 12 furlongs and we came here rather then Japan because this is a flatter track and an easier trip.'

Richard Gibson, trainer Doctor Dino: 'We´ve always had positive vibes about him this week but you need luck in running and things didn´t look too good early in the straight. But when you have the likes of Olivier Peslier riding for you then you don´t worry. We had become sick of running well in big races around the world but in the last two months he has won two Group Ones and since, this was first time over a mile and a half, who knows what´s next? Running in events like this are the reason one gets up in the morning and this is absolutely great. Racing is a team effort and I want to thank all my staff for bringing about such a great result, especially to his work rider Eric Gandon who looks after him with such enthusiasm.'

Johnny Murtagh - Dylan Thomas - 'We missed the start and he was back too far and there was no pace. We had a problem when Mr Peslier came out on us in the straight but anyhow he had no gas.'

Aidan O´Brien - Dylan Thomas - 'It´s the end of long hard season and he got caught in quarantine for a long time. He was as big as a bull and, although we tried, we couldn´t do too much about it. He´s probably the best horse we´ve had and ´s a great credit to all the lads who´ve kept him sound.'

Andrasch Starke - Quijano - 'I had a good position early but was then taken back. I was checked three times and if I could have got out then I think he could have won.'

Frankie Dettori - Red Rocks - 'The pace was just too slow for him and I was little wide, but he felt a little lethargic today. It was disappointing.'

Fran Berry - Arch Rebel - 'The pace was no use to us. We settled last and they just weren´t going hard enough. He ran on very well under the circumstances. Very good effort.´

Christophe Soumillon - Bussoni - 'He´s run a great race and I´ve no complaints. The best horse on the day won.'

Torsten Mundry - Egerton - 'He ran very, very well but he´s better at 2000 metres or something a bit shorter than this. Maybe he should have been in the Cup!'

Brett Prebble - Vital King - 'My horse was never going well and I was never the slightest bit confident. That wasn´t him.'

Stephane Pasquier - Kocab- 'Absolutely delighted with his run. One of his best performances ever and we´d just like to thank the Hong Kong Jockey Club for inviting us.'

Darren Beadman - Viva Macau - 'He rolled along early but wasn´t quite up to this company.'

Gerald Mosse - Hawkes Bay - 'I think he has nice potential and he gave me a lovely feel. The pace was too slow. I think he would be suited at a mile and a quarter in a race where the pace was stronger.'

Olivier Doleuze - Ever Bright - 'We had a good run but the pace was a bit slow for us and he´s a bit below the quality of these horses.'

Ryan Moore - Macleya -'With no pace early I felt we had no option but to go forward and we were caught wide.'
