Prescott and Polglase raids fail

There was disappointment as the Sir Mark Prescott-trained Alakananda finished unplaced in the Listed Prix Belle de Nuit over 12 and a half furlongs at muddy Maisons-Laffitte in France today.

The Newmarket raider made headway to lead rounding the final turn only to be swallowed up in the straight.

The John Oxx-trained Masilia also proved a disappointment by finishing a one-paced sixth.

Luna Sacra (10-1) beat Jomana by half a length in the fillies and mares contest, with Oro Bering a further four lengths away in third.

The Mark Polglase-trained Celerity struggled in the Listed Prix Solitude, over one mile on the same card, in which she was well beaten.

Pampa Negra (2.6-1) accounted for Hope Town by half a length to secure the spoils.
