Primo Valentino returns Primo Valentino starts on the comeback trail at Newmarket tomorrow. He looked set to take high rank among sprinters after winning his last four races as a juvenile in 1999, including the Mill Reef and Middle Park Stakes. But he failed to add to that tally last term, showing his best form when a length-and-a-half fourth behind Agnes World in the Group One July Cup. He ran badly on his last two starts in Germany and France and starts this season in Listed class, tackling the NGK Spark Plugs Abernant Stakes. 'We`ll see how he runs tomorrow but I`d like to get him back to running in Group Ones,' trainer Peter Harris said today. 'He`ll act on the soft at Newmarket - he won his maiden on it at Leicester as a two-year-old. 'He`s absolutely fine and he`s done well over the winter. He hasn`t grown any taller but he has filled out nicely.' Primo Valentino will be campaigned nearer home this season. Harris said: 'He ran deplorably on his last two starts. He doesn`t appear to fret and he eats up while he`s away but I just don`t think he travels. 'Before that he`d run very well in the July Cup so we`ll have to see how he gets on at Newmarket.' Richard Quinn has been booked to ride Primo Valentino in tomorrow`s six-furlong Listed contest, which has attracted a field of 23 sprinters.
