Quito Bidding For Sprint Honours Quito will bid for his 20th win ? but first in Group One company ? in the Betfred Sprint Cup at Haydock Park on Saturday. The immensely popular gelding gained his most recent success in last week's City Of York Stakes at the Ebor Festival.York trainer David Chapman brought him out again on Sunday for a five-furlong contest at Beverley. But things did not go according to plan, as Chapman explained.'He went very well but the weight cloths went back and then the saddle started slipping as well and Robert (Winston) had to pull him up,' he said.'But he had no problems going with them and he was where he wanted to be. It looked as though he was going to be placed and then all of a sudden he pulled him up and I thought his joints had gone, but luckily they hadn't.'The tough-as-teak nine-year-old reverts to six furlongs at the weekend, and Chapman added: 'Saturday's race has cut up a bit ? I wish I had a chance like that every Saturday!'He's in good shape but I wouldn't want it too heavy for him at Haydock. But there should be plenty of pace on, which would suit him.'We are very hopeful.'(C) PA Sport
