RACING TO CONTINUE IN FRANCE Racing is set to continue in France despite the first case of foot and mouth disease being confirmed in the country today. The sport has been stopped in two 'departements', including Mayenne where the outbreak has occurred, but there are no plans to halt racing elsewhere in the country, or to stop horses travelling between Britain and France. France Galop`s chief veterinary officer Dr Roland Devolz said today: 'There are two departements where racing is not allowed - one is Mayenne and the other is Orne. 'Racing is continuing elsewhere for the time being. 'There are no restrictions on horses travelling between England and France as long as disinfection takes place.'
