Ranger To Stay At Home

US Ranger will swerve the Darley July Cup and remain on home soil for his next outing.

Jean-Claude Rouget´s French-trained colt is being aimed at the Group One Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville on August 5, rather than the Newmarket feature on Friday week.

Rouget said: 'He will not run at Newmarket. He is very well after Royal Ascot but we will go to Deauville.

'He deserves to win a big race.'

US Ranger, who is likely to go head to head with Dutch Art at Deauville, was unbeaten in four starts in France before finishing a fine seventh in the 2000 Guineas.

He also emerged from the Royal meeting with plenty of credit when filling the runner-up berth behind Tariq in the Jersey Stakes.

The Danzig three-year-old is as as low as 10-1 to win the six-furlong July Cup.
