Recovering Maguire in good spirits

Adrian Maguire made his first public appearance since suffering a serious neck injury three weeks ago, at the Lambourn open day today.

Maguire, accompanied by his wife Sabrina, looked in good spirits despite having to sport a halo brace, which he has to wear all the time for two months.

The jump jockey had two operations to repair a fractured vertebra in his neck and a puncture in his spinal cord. He is back with his family at his Faringdon home.

'It`s coming along very good,' Maguire told the Racing Channel this afternoon.

He is expected to make a full recovery following his fall from Luzcadou at Warwick.

'He`s able to walk around and he`s pretty mobile,' said Mrs Maguire.

'He`s been lucky so we`ll have to go along with that.'
