Redcar meeting abandoned

Racing has been abandoned at Redcar today after the course failed to pass an early-morning inspection.

Officials were forced to look at the track at 7.30a.m. after heavy rain yesterday but more rain overnight meant little chance of racing going ahead.

Clerk of the course John Gundill said: 'Racing has been abandoned I`m afraid.

'We have had another 9mm of rain since the inspection was called, making 24mm in total, and it has left some false patches, meaning it would not be safe to race.'
