Review on disease policy The British Horseracing Board`s current policy of not racing in foot and mouth infected areas is set to be reviewed at a meeting tomorrow. As the policy stands no track can hold a meeting if it lies within 10 kilometres of an infected farm, an approach which goes beyond the regulations laid down by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Foods, which has said that racing between three kilometres and 10 kilometres was not a risk. A spokeswoman for the BHB said: 'At the monthly meeting tomorrow the board will review future policy options.' The 14 courses which currently lie within foot and mouth exclusion zones are Carlisle, Cartmel, Catterick, Cheltenham, Chepstow, Hexham, Newcastle, Sedgefield, Stratford, Thirsk, Towcester, Uttoxeter, Worcester and Wolverhampton. The racing programme has been devastated by the weather and the outbreak of foot and mouth disease with a total of 158 meetings being lost so far this jumps season.
