Riches Sidelined Until Next Year Belmont Stakes winner Rags To Riches is out for the rest of the season after suffering a hairline fracture to her right front pastern. The Coolmore-owned three-year-old made her own piece of history in New York in June when she became the first filly to win the final leg of the American Triple Crown in 102 years. The Todd Pletcher-trained daughter of AP Indy put the record straight as she outstayed Preakness hero Curlin in a thrilling battle down the home straight.Pletcher had won most of the big prizes in America but was recording a first Classic success with his 29th runner. She made her return to action at Belmont on Saturday but was surprisingly beaten by Lear's Princess.Pletcher told www.thoroughbredtimes.com: 'The injury is not career-ending and she is expected to make a full recovery.'It appears as though she sustained the injury during the stretch run. When she switched to the right lead, she came off the bridle and lugged in a bit. Subsequent X-rays discovered the hairline fracture.'(C) PA Sport
