Sackville to face six Gowran rivals

Sackville, the leading Irish hope for the Tote Gold Cup, will face six rivals in a three-mile hurdle at Gowran Park tomorrow.

Trainer Frances Crowley is using the Gowran race as preparation for the Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup at Leopardstown a week on Sunday rather than Saturday`s Pillar Property Chase at Cheltenham.

His main rival in the Hacketts Bookmakers Fighting Blindness Hurdle is likely to be Boss Doyle.

The 10-year-old, trained by Mouse Morris, has been a leading staying hurdler for several seasons and has been the winner of the Grade 2 John Smith`s West Yorkshire Hurdle for the past two seasons.

Sackville is a best-priced 8-1 for the Gold Cup at Cheltenham on March 14.
