Salford Impressive at Roscommon

Salford City may have been easy to back but the 10/11 shot put in an excellent performance to land the Pyramid Bookmakers Novice Chase at Roscommon in easy fashion under Paul Carberry.

Leading five out, the son of Desert Sun was in control up the straight, eventually disposing of Changing Course by eight lengths. The seven-year-old is now two from two over fences.

Successful trainer Gordon Elliott now has a hurdle race at Saratoga in August in mind for the well-travelled gelding, who of course had a stint in the States before.

Elliott also said, "he could go for a two mile three furlong race next Sunday but I´ll talk to Paul (Carberry) first as he is really a two miler. I was pleased with his jumping today."
