Setback for Tour in Kentucky

Connections are hopeful that Express Tour, one of two Godolphin hopefuls for the Kentucky Derby, will be ready in time for the big race despite bruising his near-fore at the weekend.

Godolphin spokesman, Eric Coatrieux, said: 'It`s not as bad as it was. We`ve got some time. I would rather it happen now than just on top of the race.'

Coatrieux added that the injury had not required the removal of the shoe from the injured foot.

The problem surfaced after the UAE Derby winner returned from exercise at the weekend.

But if the current level of improvement continues, connections have not ruled out the possibility of Express Tour resuming work on Thursday.

Street Cry, the stable`s other intended runner in the first leg of the US Triple Crown, could work later today at Churchill Downs.

'We`ll see what the track is like,' Coatrieux added.
