Sea Spray ran out a comfortable winner of the Ladies Day July 29th Apprentice Handicap, making all under Jamie Powell.

In first time cheekpieces and on just his second start in handicap company, the Zoustar colt was sent off an 11/2 chance.

He had all his rivals off the bridle from early in the straight and kept on well when ridden over a furlong out, coming home four-and-a-quarter lengths to the good.

The well-supported Sixpack (returned the 5/2 favourite from 7s early), finished second under Danny Sheehy for Johnny Murtagh, a nose in front of Evening’s Empire in third.

"We decided to go out in front to just make his mind up for him in the first time cheekpieces," Harrington revealed.

"He did it very well, he was going around there with his ears pricked and was as happy as Larry. He stayed going well and might be well-handicapped. He has always shown us plenty but he just hadn’t quite got his act together."

On her team for Ascot, Harrington added: "The first lot have gone over and they are all well. Givemethebeatboys, Irish Lullaby, Villanova Queen and Supersonic Man are all there now.

"I'm going over tomorrow to the sales and then racing Tuesday and probably Thursday and Friday as well. I'm in great form and couldn’t be better."
