Speciosa Waiting On Ground Pam Sly is keen to get several more runs into Speciosa this autumn before the 1000 Guineas winner is retired to the paddocks.The Peterborough trainer cannot find a suitable race for the four-year-old at the moment because of her preference for cut in the ground, but hopes she will be able to reappear in October.Although Speciosa has not won since her Classic victory at Newmarket in 2006, when conditions have come right she has shown the ability is still there, as advertised by second-place finishes to both Manduro and Peeping Fawn earlier in the year.'She won't be running until October ? I took her out of the Matron Stakes this weekend as it looked like being too firm for her,' explained Sly.'She's in the Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket (October 6) and the Prix de l'Opera in Paris the day after.'Then there's the Champion Stakes and there might be one or two races in Italy at the end of October or early November.'I have got to look at races like that as hopefully the ground will come right. We would like to get her in foal at the end of the season, but it would be nice to run her a couple more times first.'(C) PA Sport
