Spirit Switches To Newmarket

Fleeting Spirit is to seek Group One glory closer to home in Newmarket's Cheveley Park Stakes on Friday rather than taking on her elders in France.

Connections had been considering the Prix de l'Abbaye at Longchamp on Sunday, but the likelihood of soft ground in Paris has ruled out that option.

That means a step back up to six furlongs which brought her only defeat in four starts so far when she finished third to Nahoodh in the Lowther Stakes at York.

All her three wins have come at the minimum distance, victory in the Group Two Flying Childers Stakes at Doncaster following a triumph over subsequent Nunthorpe hero Kingsgate Native in the Group Three Molecomb Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.

Noseda said: 'We have made a decision to go for the Cheveley Park Stakes due to the unlikelihood of there being fast ground at Longchamp ? and also the draw coming into the equation.

'She ran well in the Lowther but things didn't go exactly to plan,' the Newmarket trainer told www.jeremynoseda.com.

'We do believe that the filly has a realistic chance of getting the six furlongs.'
