Stan James 1000 Guineas Sees An Increase In Entries

Rumplestiltskin is among 85 fillies entered for the 2006 Stan James 1000 Guineas, run on Sunday, May 7, seven more than were engaged at this stage last year and 11 more than in 2004.

Rumplestiltskin ended last term as champion two-year-old filly after Group One triumphs in the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh and the Prix Marcel Boussac at Longchamp, and is one of nine Aidan O´Brien-trained possibles for fillies´ Classic which is worth a record #330,000 this year.

The champion Irish trainer´s entry also includes Alexandrova, second in the Group One Meon Valley Stud Fillies´ Mile, Finnforest Oh So Sharp Stakes winner Race For The Stars, High Chapparal´s sister and Tipperary maiden winner Chenchikova, Kamarinskaya and Beauty Bright.

Nannina landed the Meon Valley Stud Fillies´ Mile for trainer John Gosden, and the Newmarket handler has also entered Snow Crystal, Chatila, Tiana and Dama´a.

Godolphin and trainer Saeed bin Suroor - bidding for a third success in the Classic - have an eight-strong entry which is headed by Silca´s Sister, formerly trained by Mick Channon, who landed the Group One Prix Morny from Ivan Denisovich last term.

The Godolphin entry also includes Dubai On, who has won both her starts, as have Taranto and Group Three Prix Resevoirs winner Emily Bronte. Nottingham maiden scorer Reunite is a half-sister to Anabaa Blue, while Prix Marcel Boussac third Deveron was fifth to Vague in the UAE 1,000 Guineas on February 16.

The Jeremy Noseda-trained La Chunga handed Rumplestiltskin her only defeat last term when landing the Group Three Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot from stablemate Vague who has won her last two outings in Dubai. Noseda could also saddle Salut d´Amour and Bosset.

The Mick Channon-trained Flashy Wings won her first four starts, including the Queen Mary Stakes and the Lowther Stakes, and was subsequently second to Chris Wall´s Expensive in the Watership Down Stud Stakes before running third behind Donna Blini in the Group One Sky Bet Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket in September, where Wall´s Wake Up Maggie was a neck second.

Sir Mark Prescott has Group Three winners Confidential Lady and Violette in the Stan James 1000 Guineas. The latter found the Pam Sly-trained Speciosa a neck too good in the Group Two Owen Brown Rockfel Stakes on the NatWest Rowley Mile in October.

The unexposed quartet of Queen´s Best, Scottish Stage, Wasseema and Sindirana could represent Sir Michael Stoute. Richard Hannon has entered Group Two May Hill Stakes heroine Nasheej, while Henry Cecil is after his seventh Stan James 1000 Guineas success with Star Cluster who defeated Deveron on her only start.
