Stoute not Enthused over Guineas bid

Sir Michael Stoute looks set to run only Karasta in Sunday`s Sagitta 1000 Guineas after a report today saying it 'does not look likely' that Enthused will take part.

Just days ago the trainer had appeared to have a stranglehold on the Newmarket contest, having farmed many of the top two-year-old fillies` races last season.

But his Cheveley Park Stakes winner Regal Rose was ruled out of the Classic last week due to lameness. Now Stoute fears the ground will be too soft for Lowther Stakes victor Enthused, a 12-1 chance with William Hill, for whom top Irish jockey Johnny Murtagh had been booked.

'Johnny will ride Enthused if she runs in the 1000 Guineas but I have to be realistic and say that does not look likely at the moment,' he told the Daily Telegraph. 'She won`t get her ground.'

Karasta, the mount of stable-jockey Kieren Fallon, is 3-1 favourite for the Guineas with William Hill, having won the May Hill Stakes in 2000 and finished second in the Prix Marcel Boussac.

Though her trainer has only won the Classic once - with Musical Bliss in 1989 - he has had 10 fillies placed in the race since 1985.
