Summoner supplemented for QEII

Godolphin have today supplemented Summoner for the £300,000 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot next Saturday.

The four-year-old colt, trained by Saeed bin Suroor, has been put in the Group One event at a cost of £18,000 as a possible pacemaker for stable companion Noverre.

Godolphin`s official web-site today said that Noverre found the slow early pace at Deauville last time out to his disadvantage.

He finished a close fourth, in the Prix Haras de Fresnay-Le-Buffard Jacques Le Marois, but was promoted to third on the disqualification of first past the post Proudwings.

However, Godolphin are trying to guarantee a strongly-run race such as the Champagne Lanson Sussex Stakes at Goodwood which Noverre won by coming off the pace thanks to a powerful late run.

Godolphin now have three horses in the QEII - Noverre, Summoner and last year`s UAE Derby winner China Visit.

They have won this highly-prestigious twice with Mark of Esteem (1996)and Dubai Millennium (1999).

There were no supplementary entries for the other Group One event on next Saturday`s Ascot programme, the Meon Valley Stud Fillies` Mile.
