Sun Bird to fly in at Hamilton

Sun Bird has shone brightly for Richard Allan with three victories already this year and can cap a fine campaign by lifting the stg£20,000 Tote Buttonhook Stakes on Hamilton`s richest race programme tomorrow.

Allan only has two horses on the Flat at the moment, the other being Genscher, but Sun Bird has proved a real moneyspinner.

His wins at Ripon, Redcar and Chester have yielded #19,000 in prize money and success at Hamilton would be the icing on the cake.

Allan, who trains at Cornhill-on-Tweed in Northumberland, earmarked this mile and a half feature for Sun Bird following the gelding`s latest win at Chester three weeks ago when he battled on well to hold Dusty Carpet by a neck.

The son of Prince of Birds was always travelling well for Franny Norton and has not been harshly treated by the assessor in this Showcase Handicap.

The other stg£20,000 prize on this attractive card is the Gerrard Removal Hamilton Park 2-Y-O Nursery Final.

And it can go to Karl Burke`s progressive juvenile filly Sophies Symphony, who got off the mark at the third attempt when landing a 23-runner six-furlong maiden at York earlier this month by a neck from Riva.

The form could be pretty good as the first two pulled three lengths clear of the third Forge Valley Lady.

Sophies Symphony made her debut here in June when a staying-on third to J M W Turner over the minimum trip and was then second of 17 to Twenty Seven, beaten a length, at Leicester.

Aswan was unraced as a two-year-old but has improved all the three times has been in action at the track.

The Ashkalani colt had a simple task when winning his maiden at Newcastle with consummate ease by two lengths from Under Construction in a four-horse affair.

That success will have given Sir Michael Stoute`s charge great confidence as he tackles handicap company for the first time in the Norman Hill Memorial Handicap at Kempton.
