Sunline to miss Hong Kong Mile

New Zealand star Sunline will not bid to repeat last year`s victory in the Hong Kong Mile at Sha Tin`s international meeting next month.

A statement on the Trevor McKee-trained mare`s website said: 'Sunline`s connections have decided not to accept the invitation to start Sunline in the Hong Kong Mile, and as a result will not be starting in what was to be her lead-up race, the Breeder`s Stakes at Countie.'

The six-year-old, successful in 28 of her 41 starts and twice voted horse of the year in Australia, beat Fairy King Prawn by a short head in the valuable Hong Kong race in 2000.

Though only second when bidding for a third Cox Plate victory in a row at Moonee Valley last month, she had previously landed her 11th career Group One win in the Turnbull Stakes at Flemington.
