Supreme Test For Silk

Trainer Kahlil Burke plans to give Lemon Silk a rest before aiming him at the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.

The three-year-old earned a 33-1 quote for that contest thanks to his victory in the Summit Junior Hurdle at Lingfield on Saturday.

'He's fine, not a bother on him,' said the Northleach-based handler.

'There was a big question mark whether he would handle the ground. He did, but he wasn't exactly in love with it. It just shows he's a tough little fellow.

'He had an entry in the Pierse Hurdle in Ireland but he definitely won't go for that now.

'There's a juvenile hurdle at Cheltenham at the end of January. We'll play it by ear, but I'd say that was unlikely.

'There are one or two other options and we'll look at them but as it stands now he won't have a saddle on his back until the new year.

'He likes his racing but I don't want to give him too much.

'Personally I'd like to give him a break and go for the Supreme Novices' at the Festival.'
