Third Set Tops 106 In totesport Cambridgeshire

>> Cracking 82-Strong Entry For totesport Cesarewitch

The Roger Charlton-trained Third Set, one of the most progressive handicappers in training, heads a superb entry of 106 for the #160,000 totesport Cambridgeshire, the first leg of the Autumn Double, run over nine furlongs of the NatWest Rowley Mile at Newmarket on Saturday, October 6.

Having scored impressively at Newmarket's Ritz Club July Festival and captured the valuable totesport.com International Stakes at Ascot, the son of Royal Applause landed the hat-trick in devastating style when romping home in the totesport Mile at Glorious Goodwood on August 3, defeating Humungous by three lengths.

Championship Point showed a fine turn of foot to score at Glorious Goodwood on July 31, following up his success in the Listed Wolferton Handicap at Royal Ascot, Pipedreamer recorded a stylish triumph in the Alphameric Vase at the same meeting while Tobosa, the easy winner of the Silver Bowl at Haydock in May, was a fast-finishing third in the Listed Thoroughbred Stakes at the West Sussex course last time out.

Despite not living up to his initial billing as an Epsom Derby contender last year, Greek Well looks to be going the right way now, scoring in good style at York's Ebor Meeting yesterday. Topatoo took the Group Three Middleton Stakes at York in May, Docofthebay was given a fine ride by Ryan Moore to take the De Boer Handicap at Glorious Goodwood while Pinpoint ran an excellent third behind Formal Decree in last year's renewal.

Enjoy The Moment, successful in the Queen Alexandra Stakes at Royal Ascot on June 23, heads a cracking 82-strong entry for the #160,000 totesport Cesarewitch, the second leg of the Autumn Double, run over two miles, two furlongs on the NatWest Rowley Mile at Newmarket on Champions' Day, Saturday, October 20.

The Jamie Osborne-trained four-year-old came home three lengths clear of Baddam that day and has since enjoyed little luck in running in two subsequent outings, most recently when fourth behind Desert Sea over two miles and two furlongs at Doncaster on August 17.

Secret Ploy showed plenty of courage to make every yard of the running in the Goodwood Stakes on August 1, seeing off Afrad by a length and a quarter, with Full House, who had earlier taken the Ascot Stakes, back in 10th. Macorville deserves a change of luck having been headed on the line in the Northumberland Plate at Newcastle on June 30.

Inchnadamph has proved a fine servant to the Tim Fitzgerald stable and has finished placed in the last two runnings of the totesport Cesarewitch, the Jane Chapple-Hyam-trained Mudawin landed the 2006 totesport Ebor but could only finish 12th in this year's race, and Greenwich Meantime captured the Chester Cup in May but has not troubled the judge in three outings since.

Other interesting entries are Fair Along, better known as a high-class hurdler/chaser and runner-up in this year's Chester Cup, Wing Collar, who landed the Listed Silver Cup Handicap at York on July, and progressive three-year-old Bollin Felix, a three-time winner this year.

Weights for both the totesport Cambridgeshire and the totesport Cesarewitch will be revealed on Wednesday, September 5.

My Racing Story. Jane Carpenter

I'm from just outside Kells, Co Meath and I suppose racing has always been a passion of mine. I do love the sport, and it is brilliant to make a career out of it now. My family are huge racing fans and I suppose the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Racing is a highly discussed topic at home with my family as well as farming. The racing is never off the TV. We take an annual family holiday to Galway every year. We go down for the week, and I've been going since I was a child. It is a proper family tradition now. We have going to the same house for the races I'd say for 14 or 15 years now. There are so many bedrooms there and some of my friends from home come down towards the weekend. It is a proper good holiday, and it is always in our calendars every single year. We were in Punchestown recently after Fairyhouse, so we would be big supporters of going racing. My parents are farmers, so I wouldn't have a close association with horses. I grew up on the farm, and I've been surrounded by animals all of my life. I know at first hand the effort, work and dedication that goes into animals and caring for them. I would have helped dad out on the farm alongside my two brothers. We still try to give a hand when time allows. We've no horses here on the farm, but I'm extremely confident that we will one day! I used to do a bit of riding when I was younger at my local equestrian centre. Things just got in the way then, but last summer I took it back up as a hobby. I'm really enjoying that again.
