Thornton Aiming For Aintree

Andrew Thornton is hoping to return in time for the John Smith´s Grand National after a dislocated shoulder ruled him out of the Cheltenham Festival.

Thornton suffered a horrible fall from Soulard at Kempton on Saturday but could be back in the saddle in five weeks time.

"I had some more X-rays, they were fine and the shoulder has gone back in A1," said Thornton.

"It is just a case of rehabilitation now. I might try to see a shoulder specialist just to check out the ligaments and muscle damage and he can work out a programme to strengthen it up.

"I´m sat here in a sling but, thank God, the pain has gone now and it is just a question of time.

"I´m looking at five weeks which will get me back a week before Aintree.

"I´ve already had a chat with Ruby (Walsh) and Tom (Scudamore) ? it´s the in thing this year to dislocate your shoulder!

"I´ve just totally ruled Cheltenham out of my mind now, there is no point in worrying about it."
