Three Apprentice Ridden Winners at Fairyhouse

Gary Carroll (18) from Kildare town, started a good run for apprentices at Fairyhouse when he partnered his first winner on Good Time Sue in the Bet On-Line @ betchronicle.com Handicap. The following two races, either divide of the Bet With Chronicle On-Course Handicap also went to inexperienced claiming riders.

Carroll, son of former jockey, Ray Carroll, associated with the Oxx yard for many years and now working for Dermot Weld, won on the 25/1 chance, by half a length, from favourite, Scopey . This four-year-old, bred, owned and trained in Newbridge by Monica Dowdall Blake, was ending a drought for her handler, going back to Squaw Winter´s win at Wexford in July 1999.

Ian Brennan meanwhile, had his claim reduced from 10 to 7Ibs following his third success, aboard Glenmuir in the 7.55. This gelding is trained by Ado McGuinness for the Jack Syndicate, which is headed up by the young pilot´s Father, Eamonn. McGuinness described the win as "a real family affair."

John Fahy won on Chelmsfort in the 8.25 to make it three apprentice ridden winners on the trot. The young Galway 7Ib claimer scored on this chestnut by two lengths for Pat Cody. It was the first time that Patrick McCreevey´s silks were carried to victory and he shares in the ownership of the Rossini gelding with Josephine Purcell (wife of trainer, Kieran Purcell).
