Distant Thunder's primary objective remains next Monday's Powers Whiskey Irish Grand National.

Noel Chance's gelding was a close third behind Joes Edge in an epic William Hill Trophy at Cheltenham last time out and is towards the top of the market in the betting for the Fairyhouse marathon

'As we speak, Plan A is still the Irish National,' said Chance.

'Plan B would be Liverpool, and perhaps Plan C is the Betfred Gold Cup at Sandown, although I suspect it would be pretty firm ground there.'
