Tompkins In Irish Raid

Mark Tompkins´ Steenberg is the sole British-trained runner in tomorrow´s Castlemartin & La Louviere Studs Gladness Stakes at the Curragh.

The six-year-old will be trying to go one better in the seven-furlong race after finishing second to Monsieur Bond last year, and he will face eight rivals headed by Solskjaer.

Aidan O´Brien´s runner was successful at Group Two level in 2004 and he will be the mount of new stable jockey Kieren Fallon.

Acropolis, fourth in the Prix de l´Arc de Triomphe last year, will make his seasonal bow in the Listed AES Alleged Stakes.

O´Brien has opted to start the four-year-old son of Sadler´s Wells over 10 furlongs and he will have six rivals to beat.

Merger, a promising second in the Beresford Stakes last autumn, leads a five-strong line-up for the Listed Oak Lodge & Hamford Stud Sires Loughbrown Stakes.

He is set to clash with O´Brien´s Russian Blue, who was placed in Group One company last year, and David Wachman´s Indesatchel.
