Tonic misses Singapore date

Jim And Tonic, runner-up in the Singapore Airlines International Cup for the last two years, will miss next week`s race due to a back injury.

The globe-trotting seven-year-old, trained by Francois Doumen, slipped his lumbar vertebrae during trackwork and has been withdrawn from the Group One contest a week tomorrow.

Jim And Tonic finished runner-up to Ouzo in 2000 and was beaten three-quarters of a length by the Luca Cumani-trained Endless Hall 12 months ago.

His place in the line-up at Kranji will be taken by Atlantis Prince, trained by Saeed bin Suroor. The four-year-old was second to his stablemate Sakhee at Nad Al Sheba in February.

This means that Godolphin will now be double-handed in the mile and a quarter contest as they are also set to be represented by Grandera. He was fifth to Eishin Preston in the Queen Elizabeth II Cup in Hong Kong last month.
