Top German rider fails drug test Leading German jockey Andrasch Starke has failed a random drugs test, the Hong Kong Jockey Club announced today.An initial urine sample provided by the rider revealed the presence of a prohibited substance.However, the quantity of the original sample was insufficient for official purposes and had to be reported as a negative test by Doctor T S M Wan.A second test was ordered at Sha Tin last Sunday and Wan has confirmed that Starke`s sample contained a banned substance.Starke has been informed of the findings and he has requested that the positive sample be submitted to an independent laboratory (Australia) for verification.The Hong Kong stewards have announced that Starke will be stood down until such time that an inquiry into the matter has taken place.
