Trafford Lad for Sale

Trafford Lad, the high class novice hurdler of last term, is for sale. The Butler Family Syndicate who own the six-year-old Tragic Role gelding is sending him to Doncaster Sales in early August.

Described as very athletic and strong, the Ballymore Properties Novices´ Hurdle third is a half brother to a winning pointer and his dam, Another Shuil was alsosuccessful ´between the flags.´ She is a half-sister to Shuil Ar Aghaidh, Stayers Hurdle heroine of 1993. Trafford Lad stands at 17.2 hands high.

Eamonn ´Dusty´ Sheehy trained the bay to win three of his six starts under Rules, a bumper, a maiden hurdle and the Grade 1 Barry & Sandra Kelly Memorial Novice Hurdle at Navan. After that he was unfortunate to go down narrowly to Venalmar in the Grade 2 Woodlands Park 100 Slaney Novice Hurdle at Naas, prior to his excellent effort at Cheltenham. The Tom Doyle-ridden youngster´s season culminated with a third-placing in the Grade 1 Land Rover Champion Novice Hurdle at Punchestown.

Florries Boy, who races in the same colours, is also for sale. This Presenting gelding has a hurdle and chase win under his belt and displayed his current well-being with a decent performance at Killarney on Tuesday.
