Bynx (6/1) gained an overdue second success today in Tramore's Jimmy Shanahan Memorial Handicap Hurdle much to the satisfaction of winning trainer Martin Hassett, who heaped praise on winning jockey Sean Flanagan.

The six-year-old's previous win, from 30 career runs, was in a course maiden hurdle in June and today ended a frustrating spell, making all to beat Belle The Lioness by 3.5 lengths.

Chuffed Hassett reported “she’s been fierce unlucky as things didn’t go our way but when in doubt, call on Flanagan! He gave her a masterclass, I know it looks simple but he got the fractions spot-on on that ground.

“I was half-afraid to make the running but Sean rode in the first race, reported it wasn't bottomless so I said, ‘Sean, get as much money as you can!’”

He added “Jamie (Bergin) is over the syndicate and has had a few Doubting Thomases but I think we shut them up.

"She’d probably win more but is hard on herself at home, although when she comes racing, she switches off."
