Trouble could return in January

Looks Like Trouble is pleasing trainer Noel Chance with his recuperation from injury and could be set for a return to the racecourse in January.

Chance`s nine-year-old landed the 2000 Tote Gold Cup at Cheltenham when he beat Florida Pearl by five lengths.

But he returned from his win in the James Nicholson Wine Merchant Champion Chase at Down Royal last November with heat in his near-fore tendon, and had to undergo an operation to have the tendon fired.

'He`s in good shape,' Chance said today. 'He`s on a water treadmill now for the rest of this month.

'He will get scanned towards the end of the month and, hopefully if he`s okay, we`ll kick on with him.'

And Chance is hopeful of a return to action for his stable star in January, and has a couple of potential targets for the Zaffaran gelding.

He said: 'We had in our minds the John Bull at Wincanton in January, so it will be either that or the Pillar Chase at Cheltenham.

'But he`s doing okay at the moment so fingers crossed.'

The sponsors make Looks Like Trouble a 20-1 chance to follow up last year`s success in chasing`s blue riband.
