US RIDER HURT IN FALL American jockey Dean Butler is in intensive care in hospital after suffering serious head and back injuries in a fall at Monmouth Park in New Jersey. He was fired into the ground when his mount Gesche came down at the three-furlong pole in the sixth race on last night's card, an 8{-furlong maiden claimer on turf. The 29-year-old has been riding for more than 10 years and in the past has been a leading rider at Philadelphia Park and Atlantic City racecourses. -PA
