United Blow For Wadham

Talented mare United has been ruled out of the totesport Trophy at Newbury on February 11.

Lucy Wadham´s five-year-old met with a setback cantering on Sunday morning and will not line up for the two-mile event at the Berkshire venue, for which she was the 8-1 second-favourite with the sponsors.

'She pulled a muscle behind this morning so we thought it best that she did not run at Newbury,' the Newmarket-based handler told PA Sport.

United has won all her three races over timber since joining Wadham´s yard from France and was last seen taking a Grade One event at the Punchestown Festival by 12 lengths.

Wadham is now keeping her fingers crossed the daughter of Desert King will be fit for the Cheltenham Festival, where she holds an entry in the Smurfit Champion Hurdle on March 14.

'It´s too early to say how long she´s going to be out for,' she added. 'It´s going to hold her up but it´s hopefully not season-ending - she definitely won´t be going to Newbury, however.

'She´s in the Champion Hurdle and that will now be kept under review.'
