Update on Tuesday UK Action Jumps fans will be hoping for a thaw on Tuesday as the current cold snap ensured a blank day of action on Monday. With Market Rasen already claimed by frost on Sunday, Carlisle had pinned their hopes on an 8am inspection. However, clerk of the course Jonnie Fenwicke-Clennell was forced to take an earlier look after temperatures dropped well below freezing overnight. He said: "We have abandoned. We went down to minus five last night and it´s still minus four at the moment. "The Met Office predicts a maximum temperature of one degree and that´s at 3pm, so the frost is not going to come out." Lingfield continue to fly the flag on the all-weather but Tuesday´s fixtures are already subject to checks. Staff at Sedgefield have covered a large amount of the track in a bid to beat the weather, but clerk of the course Charlie Moore will still have to take a look at 3pm on Monday. "It was minus five last night and we have got frost in the ground in places," he said. "The forecast is for plus six degrees today so we need to see if the frost will come out and if we are raceable at 3pm, then we have a chance. "We still have 400 yards of the track to cover and 3pm is the time when we would start to do that, so I need to know by then if we have a squeak of racing. "We have done a lot of work already and I just hope our efforts will be rewarded." Taunton have issued a more upbeat bulletin, however, and are optimistic about their chances of racing despite calling an inspection. Clerk of the course Michael Trickey will walk the course at 10.30am on Tuesday and remains hopeful of getting the go-ahead. He said: "We had a minimum of minus five on Sunday but we were raceable by 1pm. "We have had a minimum of 3.9 degrees today and with bright sunshine, we anticipate being raceable today and tomorrow on the same basis." Southwell are set to provide the all-weather action.
