Valentine`s short-lived stallion career at the Ashford Stud, Kentucky, is over due to fertility problems.A Coolmore press release has confirmed that the sire has been retired from active duty after all the mares he covered failed to conceive.A.P. Valentine, a son of A. P. Indy, began his stud career at Ashford this year. His covering fee had been set at 15,000.The horse was a Grade One winning juvenile and he enjoyed his finest hour at the main expense of Point Given in the Champagne Stakes.It was different story last year, when A. P. Valentine was no match for Point Given when second in both the Preakness and Belmont Stakes.
