Vinnie Roe heads French Leger party A six strong Anglo-Irish contingent headed by Dermot Weld`s Vinnie Roe will be out to make their presence felt in the French St Leger in Paris on Sunday. Vinnie Roe (Pat Smullen), successful in the Irish St Leger, is the sole Irish runner in the Group One Prix Royal-Oak at Longchamp. Middleham trainer Mark Johnston is doubly represented by course specialist Yavana`s Pace (Darryll Holland) and Double Honour (George Duffield). Yavana`s Pace (Darryll Holland) seeks his third course win of the campaign after shining in the Prix Gladiateur and the Prix du Conseil de Paris. Double Honour has his Goodwood Cup second and the form of his yard to recommend him. Arundel handler John Dunlop also runs two with Fair Question (Davy Bonilla) out to follow up an impressive German St Leger win. San Sebastian (Olivier Doleuze) acts well around here and was second in this race last year to Amilynx. Godolphin`s Wareed (Frankie Dettori) will be no pushover eitherafter landing a group two success here earlier in the month. Germinis, the former crock, leads the domestic defence. He impressed in the Prix du Cadran in which Generic and San Sebastian were second and third. Epitre gave signs of returning to form with a fast finishing second to Yavana`s Pace here last Sunday. Rounding out the field are Bonnet Rouge, Duc d`Alba, Le Tintoret and Persian Ruler. The Group Three Prix du Petit Couvert over five furlongs is also well subscribed to by British visitors and they include last year`s winner Repertory (Fergus Sweeney). The Malcolm Saunders flyer is joined by David Arbuthnot`s Monkston Point, John Wainwright`s Vita Spericolata, Rae Guest`s Rozel and Eric Wheeler`s supplemented Dancing Mystery. The respective riding plans of the latter quartet are J D Smith, Robert Winston, Darryll Holland and Stephen Carson. Dermot Weld`s Final Exam (Smullen) and the German runner Just Time add an element of further overseas interest to the French dash. Deep Sleep and Marchand Volant are the two domestic challengers.
