War On The Way Back Former Cheltenham Gold Cup winner War Of Attrition has stepped up his work-rate ahead of an eagerly-awaited return to the track.Mouse Morris' chaser was denied the opportunity of defending his crown at Prestbury Park last season due to a tendon injury. But after undergoing stem cell regeneration treatment, he was sent for a crucial scan recently that showed his injury to be healing well.'They were very pleased with the scan and we have managed to up his work rate, so everything is progressing well,' Morris told At The Races.'I don't know what David Chapman-Jones (vet) does but he appears to have worked miracles, the scan was absolutely clear.'We've been very cautious with him, but we are stepping him up. He does about an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening, walking and trotting, most of it is all hill work.'I wouldn't like to make any statements about when he will be back, but the news made me a very happy man.'(C) PA Sport
